Japan Reveals Toilet Worth Over £82,000

A Swarovski crystal encrusted toilet worth US$128,000 (that's just over £82,000) has gone on display in Tokyo.

But the blinging bog isn't actually for sale (yet) - apparently it's more of symbolic toilet than a real one.

Showroom manager Kazuo Sumimiya explains: "Much has happened in Japan this year, and as we approach the end of the year we're displaying this item hoping that we will carry on and make the coming year one that shines brilliantly."

We presume he's referring - at least in part - to the earthquake and tsunami which devastated parts of the country in March and, in an odd way, using a device built to contain and control water to point towards a brighter future has a certain aptness.

However, this is a Swarovski crystal encrusted toilet and that was a natural disaster which left thousands dead... Seriously, have we we missed something?
