Winner of BBC One, hit show The Voice, Jermain Jackman talks with host of Pure Ent TV, Essy B.
Jackman says he is defiantly looking into working with numerous stars including Sam Smith and is determined to work with as many talented people as possible throughout his career.
He says 'I grew up listing to Luther Vandross, Patti Labelle and Aretha Franklin' He goes on explaining that he began singing 'classical and opera music' Learning of his own back he researched and watched YouTube videos on how to 'breathe' and 'stand correctly'.
Without singing lessons, Jermain walks out of the Voice winning the show. Dazzling judges including Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.Am, Kylie Minogue and Ricky Wilson week after week he finally made it and his dream came true.
Jackman says 'you continually grow in life...I've just achieved something great, which is winning the voice' he continues to say 'it's through hard work and through the support in the family and friends'
Jermain says it is very 'daunting' knowing that there are so many people watching at home.
Essy says, 8 million viewers were watching the Voice at one stage on BBC 1.
Jermain says 'there was a moment when I forget two lines in the live finals' he says he made up the two lines, which went unnoticeable.
Jackman says mentor Will.i.Am 'even when there is a million things going on in his mind, he is focusing on you' A possible collaboration with him may feature on the release of his first ever album. But this has not been verified yet.
Jackman says 'People need to understand that when you come out of these shows people expect you to straight away come out with singles and albums' He refers to Sam Smith taking 18 months to release his album 'In the Lonely Hour'.
'Pouring your heart and soul into it' he expresses the song writing and producing of his first release. He goes on and says 'it needs to be correct, it needs to be perfect' He expresses that
'I'm one of those perfectionists that make sure all the t's are crossed and the i's are dotted'
Jermain is determined and ever so focused on achieving the most with his career.
He strives to experiment with different genres' expressing that he does not want to be 'forced into one genre'
'I don't want to be boxed in, I just want to sing'
'I love to sing'
'12 months ago I was just a normal 19 year old boy'
'It's weird'
He explains how 'surreal' it all is.
Jermain explains he went into work the following Saturday back to his job stacking books at his local library but was moved to the back room as people started recognizing him from the show.
He says he is 'glad where he is'
Jermain says that he booked two months off working at the library for the show, but never imagined he would walk out winning the entire show.
His first material and album will be out in 2015 spring, but Jackman explains that some material will come out sooner.
He finalises the interview by saying 'it's some very exciting times and I'm really looking forward for it'
