The leaders of Scotland's political parties have congratulated Johann Lamont on her Scottish Labour Party leadership victory.
Ms Lamont won the contest, defeating rivals Ken Macintosh MSP and Tom Harris MP.
SNP leader and First Minister Alex Salmond, who will now face Ms Lamont at Holyrood's weekly First Minister's Questions, said he looked forward to their discussions in the Scottish Parliament.
"I also look forward to working together with Johann on the areas we can agree on, for the benefit of everyone living in Scotland," he added.
Scottish Conservative leader, Ruth Davidson, who was also elected to her leadership role recently, said: "I know that she will bring her inestimable qualities of decency and endeavour to the role.
"I look forward to tackling her on the many domestic policy issues on which we will inevitably disagree, but there is one vital issue on which I hope we can work together - reaffirming that Scotland is better off in Britain."
Also commenting on Ms Lamont's victory, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said: "Our parties have worked closely in the Scottish Parliament through the coalition of the first eight years and I am sure we can work together where we agree in this session."
Meanwhile Scottish Secretary Michael Moore said: "My congratulations go to Johann Lamont on her election as Scottish Labour Leader and to Anas Sarwar on his election as Deputy Leader. I wish them well for the future.
"I am sure that in the months and years ahead they will add their strong voices to those already making the case that the nations of our country are stronger together and poorer apart."
Patrick Harvie, co-leader of the Scottish Green Party, added: "Johann Lamont and Anas Sarwar are both hardworking and capable people, and I'd like to congratulate them on their success today. But they have a tough job ahead of them in trying to reinvent Labour in Scotland."
