The Specials’ drummer John Bradbury has died, at the age of 62.

The sad new was shared via the band’s Twitter account, with a simple post that reads: "It is with deep regret that we say goodbye to our great friend, the world's greatest drummer, our beloved Brad. RIP."

John joined the band The Specials AKA when the original group split in 1981.

The new group went on to have a top 10 hit with ‘Free Nelson Mandela’ and was also part of the line-up that reunited for another tour in 2009.

John joined Terry Hall Neville Staple, Sir Horace Gentleman, Roddy Radiation and Lynval Golding for the reunion.

Speaking when the gigs were announced, Terry explained their decision for hitting the road again, stating: "It's the right time to do it. We talked about it at 25 but we weren't together enough. Now we're all getting on and it feels comfortable again."
