James Purefoy, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong and Dominic West were the home-grown stars at last night's London premiere of sci-fi blockbuster John Carter.
Joining them on the red carpet at the BFI on Southbank were Canadian actor Taylor Kitsch and US stars Willem Defoe and Lynn Collins.
John Carter, telling the small tale of a Civil War veteran transplanted to Mars where he becomes the prisoner of 12-foot barbarians, is in UK cinemas from next Friday. Andrew Stanton, the creative force behind such animated hits as WALLE, A Bug's Life, Toy Story and Finding Nemo, is at the directing wheel for this high-budget, extra-terrestrial romp.
