John Terry is taking legal advice after an image of him appeared as a "Smoking Kills" warning on packets of Indian cigarettes.
Terry's face appears on the Classic and Gold Flake brands across stalls in New Delhi.
According to Getty Images, Terry has started a legal battle over the unauthorised use of his blurry image.
It was created by the Directorate of Visual Publicity, according to the the Indian Express.
The Directorate of Visual Publicity, told the Express it was "not clear" how the image had been used.
"We sent the creative to the health ministry and they then cleared it and circulated it," he said. "But how Terry's picture got to be used is not clear."
