European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal was arrested for speeding as he left the US Masters on Monday.
The two-times Augusta champion was pulled over and taken into custody after he was clocked doing 97mph in a 65mph zone near the Georgia course.
Forty-six-year-old Olazabal was pulled over on Monday afternoon in a Mercedes car whilst en route to The Heritage tournament in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Spaniard posted a $621 cash bond and was released, said Effingham County Sheriff's spokesman David Ehsanipoor.
Ehsanipoor added: "He was very cooperative and apologetic. That will be the end of the matter."
A member of seven European Ryder Cup teams and winner on five occasions, Olazabal will captain the European team at the Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club in Illinois this September.
