For those who feel Justin Bieber is a little underexposed at present, fear not: a new book written by his Mother is set to reveal even more about the pop scamp.
Pattie Mallette has signed a deal with publisher Revell Books to publish Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom, recounting her role in turning her young son into the most famous teenager in the world.
It is also due to deliver a side order of personal trauma. According to a press release from the publisher it will recount the ‘abuse and addiction’ of her young life and a suicide attempt when she was 17.
Mallette told Billboard.com that she hoped the book would prove inspiration to those facing similar hardships.
"I want them to see that no matter how desperate their circumstances may be, they can have hope for a better future," she said, adding that part of the book’s profits will be going to charity.
For his own part 18-year-old Justin, who published his autobiography First Step 2 Forever: My Story in 2010, will be chipping in with a foreword to his Mum’s book but otherwise remains focused on his own writing project.
Justin Bieber: Just Getting Started will come out in America in September, the same time as Mallette’s title, potentially sparking what could be the first Mother-Son bestseller battle in history – though please correct us if you know otherwise.
Reports that Justin’s third book – working title Justin Bieber: Let’s See What Happens Now I Can Legally Drink – is due out in 2015 remain unconfirmed at present.
