PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Kasabian have admitted to being "frightened" as they surprised fans by performing aboard a disused Boeing 747 plane.
Two hundred lucky fans were given a treat with the intimate show at the Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome in their hometown of Leicester, in collaboration with music video website Vevo, as part of their new Vevo Presents series.
"It's quite frightening in there, like a fire's happened or it's crashed. Shouldn't really be in a plane when it's like that," admitted frontman Tom Meighan before the gig.
But he added: "This is fun. We're a rock band. We play music and that's what we do. Can't be nervous..."
The show was bandmate Serge Pizzorno's idea, he revealed.
"It's something for the fans - it's a nice, intimate gig. They don't know we're playing so it's going to surprise them. It just looks cool as well, and a unique venue," Tom said.
Pizzorno added: "The opportunity to play a show in a Boeing 747 doesn't come along very often, and the fact it's in our home town of Leicester makes this really special."
Kasabian's rip-roaring set was mainly made up of songs from their third album - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum - including the rapturously received Take Aim, Fast Fuse and Vlad The Impaler, with the equally loved Fire closing the show.
They also showcased tracks from the forthcoming new album Velociraptor, including the title track, Switchblade Smiles and Days Are Forgotten, as Tom joked that the stage felt more like "a bouncy castle than a plane".
