The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, will be guest of honour at the National Portrait Gallery to celebrate the work of Hilary Mantel (aka the woman who called her a "plastic princess") in her first public engagement of 2014. Um, awkward much?
K-Middy is set to attend the gallery's Portrait Gala, which stars the work of Man Booker Prize-winning novelist Mantel and we're hoping no one mentions THAT "dead-eyed mannequin" comment.
The author caused controv last year when she made a pregnant Kate the subject of a lecture, describing the duchess as "personality-free" and whose "only point and purpose" was to give birth. Ouch!
