The singer looked suitably glamorous for her trip to the Palace and sported a graphic print summer dress and huge, vibrant pink hat.

She was joined at the event by her boyfriend Andrew Levitas.

While Katherine is most famous for her singing, the OBE was awarded to her for both her musical achievements and continued charity work.

The 33-year-old was named in the Queen’s New Year Honours List, along with other celebs including ‘Loose Women’ panelist Lynda Bellingham and actress Angela Lansbury, who became a Dame.

"I am incredibly humbled to receive this great honour. To accept such an award after only a decade of service to music and charity comes as a wonderful surprise," Katherine said in January.

"I share this award with the charitable bodies I am so privileged to work with, especially to those brave servicemen and women who risk so much for us all on a daily basis."

The opera singer’s prolific music career has included seven Classical Album Chart number ones.

In 2013 she ran the London Marathon, raising over £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of her father.
