Prince Andrew’s already-infamous Newsnight interview about his past connection with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has got the the whole nation talking, and it would seem even Kerry Katona isn’t exempt from the conversation.
The Duke Of York’s sit-down interview with Emily Maitlis was branded a “car crash” by astonished viewers, including the former Atomic Kitten singer, who joked that he had taken some of the heat off her.
Sharing a screengrab from her much-derided interview on This Morning back in 2008, alongside a photo of Prince Andrew, Kerry wrote: “Turns out my interview is no longer car crash of the Century no more #princeandrew cheers for that!!!”
She added: “I’m sure I seen him in ICELAND Woking buying a prawn ring! It was very rememberable as I thought how unusual it was to see Prince Andrew with ONE POUND!!”
Kerry’s comment referenced her history as a spokesperson for Iceland, as well as a very specific part of Prince Andrew’s interview, in which he suggested he was at a Pizza Express in Woking on the date that he allegedly met Virginia Giuffre, who has claimed she was forced to have sex with him at the age of 17.
He said: “I was with the children and I’d taken Beatrice to a Pizza Express in Woking for a party at I suppose sort of 4pm or 5pm in the afternoon.
“And then because the duchess was away, we have a simple rule in the family that when one is away the other one is there.”
However, Kerry isn’t the only celebrity poking fun at Prince Andrew’s Newsnight appearance, with Ant and Dec kicking off this year’s I’m A Celebrity with a joke about another claim he made during the interview.
