Kevin Pietersen Gives His Side Of The Story To Ex-England Captain Nasser Hussain

'And Then They Dropped Me' - What Did Pietersen Have To Say To Hussain?

Hours after learning he was out of England's ICC World Twenty20 cricket squad, an animated Kevin Pietersen gave his side of the story to former captain Nasser Hussain prior to Surrey's CB40 defeat of Glamorgan.

Ostracised from the international set-up after texting South Africa players after England's second Test draw, a route back into captain Andrew Strauss and coach Andy Flower's plans seems unlikely for the 31-year-old after the latter hinted the offer of a new contract may not be forthcoming.

Pietersen and Hussain chat at the Oval

Writing in today's Mail, Hussain says Pietersen did not advise South Africa's bowlers to bowl round the wicket to Strauss for the third Test at Lord's but did admit he sent "some stuff he shouldn't have" and the one person he "shouldn't have hurt is Strauss".

Hussain was covering the match in his role as a pundit for Sky Sports. A poignant occasion, it helped launch the Tom Maynard Trust in memory of the ex-Glamorgan and Surrey batsman, who died after he was struck by a London Underground train in June.
