Kim Dotcom, Megaupload Founder, Denied Bail In New Zealand - VIDEO

Kim Dotcom, the founder of file-sharing website Megaupload.com, has been denied bail and will be held in custody for another month.

In Auckland on Wednesday, judge David McNaughton said the suspect posed a significant flight risk following his arrest on copyright infringement charges.

Another suspect has been arrested in the Netherlands.

A hearing will be conducted on February 22nd. Judge McNaughton said this would set a date for the extradition request.

Paul Davison, Dotcom's lawyer, said he was disappointed with the decision. "There is no risk of Kim Dotcom fleeing New Zealand. All of his assets have been frozen, all of his resources have been taken, seized."

Dotcom was arrested at his mansion, along with six others on 20 January 2012 in a joint FBI and New Zealand police operation.

The accused face extradition to the US, and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for racketeering, 20 years for money laundering, five years for conspiracy to commit copyright infringement and five years on other related charges.
