Kim Kardashian And Kanye West ‘Could Go To Prison For Three Years’ Over Taylor Swift Phone Call

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West might have thought they had the last laugh by sharing that recording of ‘Ye on the phone to Taylor Swift, but it seems it could actually have landed them in serious trouble.

Laws in a number of US states - including Kimye’s home state of California - dictate that recording a phone call without the consent of both parties is actually a criminal offence. Oh dear.

A source tells The Sun: “Taylor’s team believe that Kanye and Kim have quite clearly broken the law.

“They are on a mission to destroy Taylor but there could be serious consequences because they made the phone call from California where it is illegal to tape calls without permission.

“They didn’t ask permission from Taylor and that could be considered a felony where the offenders can be jailed for up to three years.”

Don’t panic yet though, Kimye devotees, as while that’s the maximum sentence, it seems unlikely that they’ll actually be imprisoned, as a fine would probably be imposed instead.  

It’s also not clear if Kim was in California or New York - where secretly taping calls is perfectly legal, as long as one party consents - when the incident took place.

It’s been quite the 48 hours since Kim dropped the video on Snapchat, and in that time, we’ve had a statement from Taylor, supportive tweets from her squad, a rather gross row between Khloe Kardashian and Chloe Grace Moretz, and TMZ claiming to have proof that Taylor already threatened Kimye with legal action.
