Chivalry is not dead – especially amongst our children, as this boy proves.

When a baseball was given to him at a big game in the States, the 12-year-old kindly handed it to a little girl sitting behind him.

What a lovely gesture!

Young people are often lambasted for their lack of manners but the young man debunked that criticism during a match in Boston.

The ball went out of play and one of the players handed the boy the ball.

But instead of keeping the memento for himself, he turned around and gave it to the girl behind him.

The girl's mum was left open-mouthed by the gift to her daughter and said: "Thank you so much."

Commentators were so impressed with his act of kindness that they stepped in - to hand the boy two baseballs as a gift.

Broadcaster Jerry Remy said: "I think that's one of the nicest things I've seen at the ballpark all year."
