There's a lace pants ban going down in Kazakhstan. Really.
The government is set to enforce a law that prevents women from wearing synthetic lace underwear.
So far, so crazy. And there have been actual protests over it too. But apparently the ban (due to go ahead this July) is to protect the women of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia from materials that lack suitable levels of absorption. Yes absorption... too much info.
The Moscow Times reports that the law "will ban underwear that does not reach a 3 percent threshold for moisture absorption." This is to prevent consumers from coming into contact with potentially harmful products.
"Moisture absorption in many of the most popular synthetic material mixtures for lace panties is reportedly around 3 to 3.6 percent."
First off, there are definitely bigger things to be concerned about here - more pressing political matters than mass-produced lacy pants. And secondly, isn't it a woman's right to choose exactly what she wears over her lady parts?
