A 10-year-old girl who was made homeless by a fire has started to turn her luck around - by selling lemonade.
Alyssa De La Sala, of Lutz, Florida, wanted to help her parents rebuild their family home after it was gutted by a fire in March 2013 and builders allegedly "scammed" her parents out of the insurance money.
"They would start something, we'd get our hopes up thinking it's finally going to be finished, but then they'd stop again," Jenn De La Sala said. Luckily, Jenn's daughter has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and went to work on a lemonade stand.
The stand went up on Saturday, from 9am to 3pm, and was a roaring success with crowds so large police were called in to divert traffic.
People were generous enough to bring cakes to donate to the cause, and one thirsty customer paid $1,000 for a single glass of lemonade.
Using her GoFundMe page and the lemonade stand, Alyssa has raised more than $15,000 already.
