LG has announced a new (and pretty unique) mobile phone with two defining features.

First, like the Samsung Galaxy Round, it's curved.

Second, it heals itself.

The LG G Flex is the second major curved mobile phone to arrive in a month after Samsung's South Korea-only device was launched earlier this year.

The 6-inch, 720p device features a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, back-plate buttons and a 13-megapixel camera, bringing it roughly in line with the company's LG G2 flagship.

But it also has a top-to-bottom arcing design, designed to curve naturally with the contours of your face.

"The vertically curved design of the LG G Flex reduces the distance between one's mouth to the microphone when the device is held against the ear, as traditional telephone handsets used to," LG helpfully explains in a press release.

The phone also features an intriguing "self healing" coating on the back plate, which LG says can repair scratches and nicks automatically. The elastic coating is said to fix the problems "within minutes".

Unfortunately like the Samsung Galaxy Round the phone is currently available only in Korea, at least for now.

Here are some more pictures of the device.
