Liam Gallagher has agreed to support the love child he had with an American celebrity journalist – but only temporarily.
The 41-year-old Oasis star faced ex-lover Liza Ghorbani in a New York court for the first time, where a deal was thrashed out, according to The Sun.
His daughter Gemma was born in March last year as a result of a fling with Liza, 40, after she interviewed him for a story.
The journalist is suing the singer for child maintenance.
Liam appeared at New York County Supreme Court on Monday.
As he and Liza entered the courtroom to go in front of Justice Laura Drager, Liam said to Liza with a smile: "After you."
But she refused to acknowledge him and left him to walk in first.
After the three and a half hour session, it was revealed that Liam has agreed to temporary support but no final deal.
Both sides have agreed to exchange financial information and Justice Drager told them to continue negotiating behind closed doors, adding: "Hopefully it will produce a settlement."
Liam refused to comment as he left and faces a second hearing on May 28.
Liza's lawyers have previously told The Sun: "We know he can afford to support the child.
"It's just a question of figuring out how much he should give."
After news of his daughter broke last year, Liam split from his wife Nicole Appleton of All Saints with whom he has a son Gene, 13. He also has a son Lennon from his previous marriage to Patsy Kensit, and a daughter Molly from a relationship with singer-songwriter Lisa Moorish.
