Liam Gallagher has apologised for "upsetting people" with his recent tweet about the Euro 2016 Championships.

“Russian hooligans skintight shorts bumbags batty boy muscles ha ha I'd be more worried bout getting me arse pinched LG X [sic],” he wrote. Yes, seriously.

This is what he posted in 2016, just days after America’s deadliest mass shooting took place at a gay club in Orlando.

But now, he's offered something of an apology, though he doesn't make direct reference to the fact he used an outdated, homophobic slur:

Following his first post, it didn’t take long for the replies to roll in:

Perhaps mull over your wording for a little longer next time, Liam? Just a thought.
