With a less than straightforward plot, Line Of Duty is one of those shows you’d think everyone has to put their phones away for in order to pay 100% attention.
Luckily though, there are heroes that walk among us who can get to grips with the twist and turns AND provide hilarious commentary at the same time.
So as the final episode of series five unfolded on Sunday night, the internet was awash with reactions as the ‘who is H?’ mystery was (kinda) put to bed.
Here’s those that summed up what we were all thinking...
1. The finale could not have come at a better time
2. This piece of dialogue will go down in history
3. The interrogation scenes between Carmichael and Hastings were electric
4. Although, it was not good seeing Hastings on the other side of the table
5. When Gill Biggeloe arrived seemingly to save the day, we celebrated a little bit early
6. Especially when it looked like she’d managed to get Hastings off the charge thanks to AC-3′s incompetence
7. As all the evidence started to come together, many were forced to re-evaluate everything they’d previously thought
8. While Hastings’ hair on Corbett’s body was rather damning evidence, many rejoiced at his luscious locks finally getting some attention
9. Hastings’ misspelling of ‘definitely’ coming back to haunt him acted as a lesson to us all
10. And his porn admission had people asking if he even knew how to use a computer properly
11. There was impatience at Fleming and Arnott taking forever to get their ducks in a row
12. But boy, their arrival at AC-12 was worth the wait
13. And then came Fleming’s delicious unmasking of Biggeloe
14. And a realisation she’d played us and Hastings all along
15. Carmichael was left with so much egg on her face that she could have made an omelette
16. Then no-one arrived to save Biggeloe
17. A revisit of DI Matthew ‘Dot’ Caddy’s dying declaration put everything right back at square one
18. And not everyone was relishing having to start the hunt all over again
19. Although some had already solved the case after the ‘four Dots’ revelation
20. Then it was revealed OCG member Ryan Pilkington is planning to carry on their work from inside the force
21. And as the titles rolled, the nation was left wondering what the hell they are going to do with their lives until the show returns
Line Of Duty’s fifth series is available to watch again on BBC iPlayer, with the previous four series also on Netflix.
