A nude bra is an underwear staple, but finding the perfect style isn't always easy for women with darker skin.
Nubian Skin, a new lingerie and hosiery brand, is about to change that.
After struggling to find underwear suited to her skin tone, Nubian Skin's founder (who goes unnamed) was inspired to launch bras and tights in a variety of "nude" shades for women of colour.
"Despite the reality that women of colour have the same needs as all women when it comes to lingerie and hosiery (and spend the same of their hard-earned money), the industry simply doesn't cater to us," the founder writes on the brand's website.
"It's an uphill battle, but every revolution starts somewhere," the founder continues. "Looking at the make up industry, it took Eunice W. Johnson to create Fashion Fair Cosmetics in 1973 for black women to really have an adequate choice in finding makeup colours to suit them.
"In the 1990s and 2000s, mainstream brands began to realise the value of providing to women of colour, and despite the billions we spend on make up each year, there are still brands that have chosen not to provide an offering for us."
The brand will launch its e-commerce site in October and the bras will come in 30 B to 36 E, with a wider range of sizes due to be released at a later date.
A fashion line that caters to all? Something tells us it's going to be a big success.
