Simon Cowell Congratulates Little Mix After DNA Beats Spice Girls' Record Stateside

Little Mix Smash Spice Girls' Record

'X Factor' winners Little Mix have made US chart history after their debut album 'DNA' made it into the top five.

And their record company boss, Simon Cowell, is rubbing his hands with glee:

Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinncok and Jade Thirlwall have topped the Spice Girls' record, with their debut album 'DNA' selling over 50,000 copies and entering the Billboard chart at number four.

They are the first ever British girl group to debut in the top five with their debut album release, as the Spice Girls’ debut album 'SPICE' only reached number six in 1997.

Globally, 'DNA' has entered the top five in seven countries and Little Mix has sold over 2 million records worldwide.

The album features their debut US and UK number one single 'Wings,' which reached a cumulative total of 120 million in radio audience.

Little Mix's popularity Stateside is only set to grow, as they make their US television debut on ABC’s 'Good Morning America' annual Summer Concert Series on New York City’s prestigious Central Park Stage this Friday 7 June.

All four girls have come a long way since they auditioned for 'The X Factor' in 2011 as solo artists. They have Tulisa Contostavlos, whose career isn't going quite so well, to thank for getting them together as Little Mix.
