Brendan Rodgers labelled his Liverpool side 'lazy' after they were beaten 3-2 by Udinese in the Europa League.
The Reds lead 1-0 at half-time through a Jonjo Shelvey header but conceded three times in the second period as the Zebrette consigned the club to their third Anfield defeat of the season.
Rodgers was complimentary about portions of the performance but was troubled by the complacency on show.
"It was a game where I felt we were the much better side, but we lost our concentration at the beginning of the second half and I thought we'd moved on from that to be honest," Rodgers said.
"I thought we were just lazy - that is the easiest way to describe it. Just lazy in our play and loose and sloppy. It is as simple as that.
"In that opening period (of the second half) we didn't do what I call the dirty bit. In the first half we earned the right (to be in front) - we pressed the ball, got tight and then showed our quality with the ball.
On a more comedic note, Stewart Downing was upended by Giampiero Pinzi in what was one of the most comical fouls so far this season.
It was something of a monumental night for Downing who actually provided an assist - a feat he is still to accomplish for the Reds in the Premier League - for Shelvey's opener. And then Pinzi struck.
Downing ought to be complimented by his cynical act. So rare is it that he has hared away from an opponent in a red shirt that when the Italian timed a rugby tackle to perfection the winger could have been forgiven for celebrating. Pinzi picked up a booking for his efforts.
The Italian's laughter after the foul added weight to the comedy of it all, and he did have the last laugh despite an impressive final 20 minutes from the home team.
