A power cut at a key polling station in north London has delayed electronic vote counting for the London Mayoral Elections by more than an hour.
The process of scanning ballot papers at Alexandra Palace count centre had been due to start at 8.45am, but did not get under way until 10.15am due to the temporary loss of power.
London Elects spokesman Euan Holloway said: "It delayed the start of the count, but we don't think it's disrupted the progress of the count too much, it's up and running now."
Mr Holloway said work was undertaken preparing for the start of the count and registering batches of ballot papers ready to be scanned during the power cut.
He added: "During the outage, staff continued to work on the first stage of the count, which is to open the ballot boxes and prepare them for registration.
"The four constituencies counting at Alexandra Palace are Enfield and Haringey; Barnet and Camden; Brent and Harrow; North East.
"The cause of the power outage is being investigated. There have been no issues at any of the other sites."
