London Underground Tube Drivers To Strike On Boxing Day

Travel Chaos As Tube Drivers Vote To Strike On Boxing Day

Travel chaos will hit the London Underground after Tube drivers voted to hold four strikes, starting on Boxing Day.

A further three strikes will be held on January 16, February 3 and February 13.

Aslef balloted its 2,200 members after London Underground bosses refused to give them triple pay – equivalent to £366 – and a day off for working the bank holiday.

The union claims 92.3% voted in favour of the action.

“The company is currently offering no additional payments for working on Boxing Day.”

The union wants working on Boxing Day to be voluntary and says its members may need “substantial incentives” to volunteer.

Tube drivers currently earn a basic salary of £45,545 – around £122 a day.
