Louis Oosthuizen, 2010's British Open winner, propelled himself into the lead at the US Masters on Sunday with an albatross on the second hole.
It was at Pink Dogwood, which is 575 yards to the pin, where the South African's second shot kicked on to the green and gathered momentum until it disappeared into the hole, to rapturous applause.
His feat on the par-five propelled him to -10 in what was just the fourth double eagle in Masters history. Gene Sarazen became the first on the 15th in 1935, in what was dubbed the "shot heard around the world".
The others were Bruce Devlin in 1967 at the 8th and Jeff Maggert in 1994 at the 13th, but Oosthuizen, unlike Sarazen, did not go on to win the tournament. American Bubba Watson beat him in a two-hole play-off.
