Louis Tomlinson helps an 83-year-old man achieve some of his life-long goals in a heartwarming new video.
The former One Direction singer meets Richard Green in the video, and pledges to help him check a few items off his bucket list.
Over the course of the seven-minute video – soundtracked by Louis’ emotional solo single Two Of Us, which addresses the grief he felt after the death of his mother – the two are seen driving in a race car, co-piloting a helicopter and riding a rollercoaster together, with Richard even giving Louis a new tattoo in the middle of it all.
The two also share their experiences of bereavement, with Richard having lost Pat, his wife of 60 years, in December 2016, the same month that Louis’ mum Johannah died, following a long battle with leukemia.
At the end of the video, Louis surprises Richard – a former singer – by having him come on stage during an arena performance to deliver a rendition of Nessun Dorma.
Fans are then urged to donate to Cancer Research and the Alzheimer’s Society, as well as the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, which cares for young people with a shortened life expectancy or complex medical needs.
Louis posted the video on Twitter on Wednesday, noting: “About a month or so ago I met a man called Richard. He had a few things he wanted to do so I thought I’d help him out.
“This video feels particularly relevant and powerful to me. Richard is a classic example of a fearless man who in light of tragedy still pushes himself to live with as much laughter and happiness as possible.”
It’s been a difficult month for Louis, whose sister Félicité recently died at the age of just 18.
Earlier this week, Louis posted a statement telling fans he was taking a different approach to his solo music career in future, and would be focussing on “making music he loves” and “making his fans proud”, rather than “competing with the likes of Drake and Ariana Grande”.
