’Love Island’ will return in 2017 following the massive success of the current series, which saw Nathan Massey and Cara De La Hoyde crowned champs.
The ITV2 reality series show has achieved record audiences this year and has doubled the 2015 series average, with around 1.3 million viewers tuning in each night throughout its six week run.
‘Love Island’ has also the highest rating entertainment series on any digital channel in 2016.
ITV execs have already begun the hunt for the next batch of singletons hoping to find love, with Rosemary Newell, Head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions for the broadcaster stating: “’Love Island’ has come back so strong this year, and become unmissable viewing, particularly with younger viewers, which is our focus on ITV2 .
“As six weeks of hugely entertaining television come to a close, we’re delighted to be bringing the show back for a another run next year.”
However, there is no news yet as to whether Caroline Flack will be back to front the next series.
‘Love Island’ originally aired on ITV for two series from 2005, when it featured celebrities rather than civilian contestants.
It was rebooted for a younger audience last year after nearly a decade off screen, with Caroline replacing previous hosts Patrick Kielty and Fearne Cotton.
