Lucie Donlan may currently be grieving the departure of Joe Garratt from the Love Island villa, but she won’t be sad for too long – at least if viewers’ predictions are anything to go by.

Fans of the ITV2 series reckon that producers are already casting a new guy who’s 100% her type on paper to go in and mend her broken heart.

Last night’s episode saw Joe and Lucie torn apart in the latest Island dumping, which also saw Elma Pazar sent home.

Lucie was left in tears at the result, with a preview of Wednesday’s show revealing her turmoil at whether to follow Joe out of the villa.

However, fans have predicted bosses will be sending in a fellow surfer in the coming days to turn her head...

Joe’s exit came after TV watchdog Ofcom received complaints about his controlling behaviour towards Lucie.

Some viewers had even suggested has been gaslighting her – a form of emotional abuse where a person tries to gain power and control by planting seeds of uncertainty in someone else’s mind – after he tried to stop her being friends with Tommy Fury.

Joe’s “controlling” behaviour has been condemned by Women’s Aid, who issued a statement on the matter.

Love Island bosses were later forced to speak out after viewers questioned how much support Lucie was receiving, after she also became isolated from the girls in the villa.

A spokesperson insisted they had “dedicated welfare producers and psychological support on hand at all times”.

“All the islanders are therefore fully supported by the professionals on site and by their friends in the villa,” they added.

ITV has also since dismissed reports Joe is being held in a “safehouse”, following his elimination.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
