Maura Higgins has been the gift that keeps on giving in throughout the latest series of Love Island and in last night’s finale, she provided one final moment of TV gold.
Maura and Curtis Pritchard were the first finalists out of the running for the Love Island crown on Monday night, with Caroline Flack revealing that they’d come fourth in the public vote.
After a short interview – which saw them sit quite far apart and disagree on answers… – they took their seats on the sidelines, where they were later joined by Ovie Soko and India Reynolds, who finished in third.
It was then time for the winning couple to be announced and it’s safe to say Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea were stunned to have nabbed the £50k ahead of Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague, who had been the favourites.
But were they as stunned as Maura? Fans at home couldn’t help but notice the Irish Islander’s reaction was a little off…
Something you’d like to share with the group, Maura?
As Love Island winners, Amber and Greg received a grand prize of £50k (which they chose to share) but the real paydays will come thanks to the appearances and brand deals they agree in the coming months.
Amber’s best friend, Martin Tweedy, has been looking after her social media accounts while she’s in the villa and recently told HuffPost UK about how doing so has taken over his life.
Martin, who works full-time for the NHS, has spent hours of each day fielding incoming offers, revealing: “She must get over 1,000 emails a day, and about 2,500 messages on Instagram – lots of which say ‘if you promote this brand, we’ll give you two grand for a couple of posts’.
“Literally, I’m petrified I’ll miss something, so I go through every single message.”
