Sherif Lanre has made a return to social media to thank fans for their support, after leaving the Love Island villa via the back door.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the 20-year-old’s time on the ITV2 reality show had come to an end, with a spokesperson for the show revealing that he had broken one of the rules, but kept schtum on exactly what had happened.
Posting on his Instagram Story on Wednesday, Sherif remained equally tight-lipped on the unexpected turn of events, but it seems he’s ready to make light of it.
“Thank you to everyone including my friends and family for the support I’ve come back to,” he wrote. “I appreciate you all and hope I provided some good, positive moments during my time on Love island and for anyone wondering I’m all good.”
The rugby player added a hashtag with the words ‘It is what it is’ – in reference to his often-used phrase – and a laughing face emoji.
Sherif’s exit was briefly mentioned in Tuesday night’s show, as narrator Iain Stirling told viewers: “Earlier today, following conversations with producers, Sherif left the villa. But for the other Islanders, it’s another day in paradise.”
The decision to gloss over the exit did not go down well with fans, who took to Twitter to slam the show’s editing.
Sherif’s exit leaves Anna free to couple up with someone new, but she has numerous girls to contend with as two more bombshells will arrive during tonight’s episode.
Love Island returns at 9pm on ITV2.
