Dumped Love Island contestant Tom Walker has admitted he regrets the way things played out in a row between himself and Maura Higgins.
Tom found himself put in his place earlier this week, when after winning a night in the Hideaway Maura overheard him bragging to the other boys about how he’d discover whether she was “all mouth”, referring to her previous comments about sex.
While Maura won herself a legion of new fans for the way she handled the situation, the incident left Tom considerably less popular with viewers.
Following his exit on Thursday night, Tom said he wished he take back his remark when asked if he felt he’d made any mistakes during his time in the villa.
“Obviously the Hideaway comment,” he said. I just got ahead of myself and I made an out of character remark.”
Speaking about his relationship with Maura, with whom he was still partnered at the time of his exit: “Maura was the one that I felt the closest connection to. There wasn’t really another option.
“I said what I said about her being OTT etc because it was early days and I was sound boarding off people. I perhaps should have just been straight from the off.”
Tom was eliminated alongside Arabella Chi, who insisted that she wouldn’t do anything differently given her time on Love Island again, despite her romance with Danny Williams proving divisive among both viewers and her fellow islanders.
Love Island continues at 9pm on Friday night on ITV2.
