Love Island has officially told winter to “do one” in the first trailer for the upcoming series.
ITV bosses have given fans a tantalising look at the first-ever January run of the hit reality show, and it promises to send temperatures soaring during the UK’s coldest month.
The promo sees narrator Iain Stirling calling out the British winter for being “just rain, sleet, drizzle, repeat”, before telling it to “take your frostbite and stick it where the sun don’t shine”.
As a group of young, hot singles party at a luxury villa, he says: “This year, our heads have been turned. We’ll be covering ourselves in glitter and dancing round the firepit – and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
Host Caroline Flack is then seen strutting down the villa driveway as she arrives at the party.
“Sorry winter, you’re just not our type,” she adds.
Love Island producers announced the show was going to air two series in 2020 prior to the end of last summer’s run.
The fifth series – which saw Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea crowned winners – was the most successful yet, breaking ratings records for ITV2 with an average of nearly six million people tuning in.
ITV’s head of digital channels, Paul Mortimer, said at the time: “Off the back of a record-breaking year, we’re delighted to be bringing an extra series of our biggest and sunniest show to the 2020 schedule.
“Love Island has proven yet again to be the perfect format that engages younger audiences. In response to this viewer appetite, a new batch of young singletons will deliver some highly anticipated post-Christmas romance and drama from our new and luxurious location.”
The new series will take place in a brand new villa in South Africa – where the short-lived reality show Survival Of The Fittest was also set – while the second run of the year is expected to return to its usual location in Mallorca.
Love Island returns to ITV2 in January with an exact air date expected in due course.
