They were difficult boots to fill but Audi have chosen the man to replace three-time Le Mans winner, Allan McNish - former F1 driver, Lucas di Grassi.
The Brazilian, who has been racing for the German marque since 2012, will partner multiple Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen and Loic Duval for the 24-hour epic as well as all the rounds of the World Endurance Championship.

The 29-year-old, who won third-place finishes at Spa and Le Mans in 2013, has been promoted to the role of a regular driver and replaces McNish, who retired from racing at the end of the year after being crowned WEC World Champion alongside Duval and Kristensen.
Di Grassi paid tribute to McNish via Twitter, saying:

Speaking about di Grassi's promotion, Audi's head of motorsport, Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, said: "Of course it’s not easy to replace a driver like Allan, who drove for Audi for 14 years. But Lucas has delivered convincing performances in all of his runs for Audi so far."
Audi's announcement comes just days after rivals Porsche revealed their driver line-up for the season following the marque's return to endurance racing and the coup of signing former Red Bull F1 driver, Mark Webber. The Australian will share his Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 car with 2010 Le Mans winner, Timo Bernhard, and New Zealander, Brendon Hartley
