Luke Perry’s daughter, Sophie, has thanked her supporters for their messages in the wake of her father’s death.
Sophie revealed in an Instagram post that she had flown home from Malawi to be with her father in hospital in Los Angeles, where he was rushed in last week after suffering a stroke.
On Monday, it was reported that the Beverly Hills 90210 actor had died at the age of 52, with Sophie sharing a short message for his fans on Tuesday evening.
“A lot has happened in this past week for me,” she wrote. “Everything is happening so fast.
“I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I.”
She added: “I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”
A number of Luke’s co-stars past and present have been paying tribute to him on social media since the news broke of his death, including stars from Beverly Hills 90210 and Riverdale, his most recent show.
It has since been reported that production on the upcoming series of Riverdale has been temporarily suspended, to allow the cast and crew time to grieve.
