A robot equipped with a working machine gun has been fired in a demonstration to the US military.
The MG-240 machine gun with which the robot is equipped is extremely powerful - the robot had to be chained up so that it didn't break free, according to Kotaku. It also had a thermal imaging system on board to detect targets.
Fortunately, given both our hopes for the future of humanity and generally recognised international conventions on warfare, the firing was controlled not by the robot itself but my a human operator.
