Police searching for missing Madeleine McCann are reportedly following up three new potential clues in the hunt for her after a new witness spoke out.
The Sun claims that a blonde child 'identical' to Madeleine was spotted at a campsite on the Costa Del Sol three days after the then-toddler disappeared from Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007.
Fellow camper Karen Sisson, 49, says she saw a 'groggy-looking' little girl staying with a German family in a caravan. She was said to seem 'alienated' from the rest of the family.
British police have reportedly been told the German family paid extra fees at the site as they had bought another child in addition to the number they had booked when they arrived on May 6.
The Sun also claims that "questions over the number plates on their car have raised fears they could have been fakes used to dodge detection."
Karen spotted the little girl at the Cabopino campsite and said she was not taken seriously by police when she contacted them about her at the time.
Ms Sisson, from Gibraltar, said the child was wearing a pink T-shirt, shorts and a beige hat and appeared to be 'out of it'. She added that she did not 'fit' with the German parents and their two curly-haired toddlers. She said: "She seemed alienated and completely different to her family. It really was most peculiar."
Karen said she became more suspicious when she saw the child wearing the same clothes two days running.
The family stayed on the site for two weeks. Their car has also now raised alarm bells with police as it had a 'BE' German plate which went out of use 38 years ago – but was being used on a vehicle first produced in 1996.
The information has been passed on to Scotland Yard, and a spokesmen for the McCanns said that Karen Sisson had "done exactly the right thing in reporting what she saw to police."
Some five years on from her disappearance, detectives last month released an image of how Madeleine might now look at nine years old.
What do you think of all this new info? Potentially raising false hopes, or essential to ensure the hunt for Madeleine continues?
