A man has been charged with obstructing the railway with intent to endanger safety after a train crashed into an empty car at a level crossing.
Jonathan Mather, 35, was arrested on Monday after the incident at Clay Mills, near Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire.
A passenger service carrying more than 40 people struck the car at about 7.25pm on Monday but was not derailed.
Three people on board the train were treated for back pain.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said Mather, of Pearl Close, Oakwood, Derby, will appear at Burton Magistrates' Court later today.
