A man has been charged in connection with an attempted carjacking in a supermarket car park.

A three-year-old boy was in the back seat of the car at the time of the alleged incident outside the Aldi store in Gorton, Manchester, at around 7.40pm on Monday.

Kyle Jones, 23, of Cheadle Street, Openshaw, has been charged with attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon and remanded to appear before Manchester Magistrates' Court today.

The owner of the car, Tahir Mehmood, walked out the supermarket and saw his wife and another son, aged five, had been allegedly forced out of the vehicle, Greater Manchester Police said.
