A young man has died after being found unconscious in the sea following a boating accident.
The victim was rescued from Osborne Bay off the Isle of Wight shortly after 5pm yesterday following a Mayday call from a large luxury motor yacht.
He was airlifted to hospital on the island but later died, Hampshire Constabulary said.
Two other people were rescued from the water by a passing yacht but are not believed to be seriously injured.
The motor yacht, which had around 12 people on board, was taken in to nearby Cowes by its own crew escorted by a police launch.
Cowes lifeboat also towed in a water-jet powered rigid-inflatable boat from the scene.
It is not known how many crew had been on board the smaller vessel.
The incident has been reported to the Marine Accident Investigation Branch and Hampshire Constabulary's Marine Unit is also investigating.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "There is no information to suggest any suspicious circumstances."
