A man has been charged with the murders of two middle-aged men whose bodies were found in a back garden.

Phillip Simmons, 38, will appear at Hull Magistrates' Court accused of murdering Daniel Hatfield, 52, and Matthew Higgins, 49.

Humberside Police said the victims' bodies were found in a garden in May Street, Hull, on Friday evening.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Saturday found the men died after suffering significant multiple injuries.

Simmons, of May Street, has been charged with robbery and two counts of murder.

He will appear before magistrates on Monday morning.

A 36-year-old woman arrested in connection with the murders has been released on bail, and a 27-year-old woman has been released unconditionally.
