Police are hunting a man who went on the rampage with a large knife on a petrol station forecourt.

He attacked cars and tried to climb in them, kicking at windows and smashing at windscreens with his knife.

Greater Manchester Police has released CCTV footage of the shocking incident, at 8.45pm on Friday February 22 at the Texaco petrol station on Oldham Road, Failsworth.

Nothing was stolen and the man made his way towards a nearby canal.

Detective Constable Kate Carnally said: "Thankfully no-one was injured during this incident at the petrol station, but staff and customers were understandably left terrified after a man brandishing a knife threatened a number of people there and damaged several cars.

"The man's intentions as he carried out these threats are still unclear at this time, but we continue to make extensive efforts to identify and trace the man responsible."
