Manchester United manager David Moyes was in Portugal last night on another scouting trip but also has an eye for German talent. A known admirer of Toni Kroos, another name cropping up in the gossip columns is Marco Reus, and his former teammate Mario Götze has done little to quell talk of an exit.
Bayern Munich playmaker Götze says Borussia Dortmund winger Reus wants to join United, according to the Star. Reus is arguably the outstanding attacker of Jürgen Klopp's Yellow and Blacks and put both Bayern and Real Madrid to the sword last week.
The 24-year-old's £37.8 million buy-out clause kicks in next year but United could make a move for the Germany international before the World Cup. United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward and Moyes - should he reman in charge - are under pressure to make amends for their disastrous summer transfer window last year, in which the only signing they made was on transfer deadline day and for £4.5m more than was necessary. And, of course, he used to play for Moyes and has played woefully for the majority of the season. It cannot get any worse.
Marco Reus: Arguably the best winger in European football at the moment
Moyes was in Portugal to watch Porto defender Eliaquím Mangala and winger Jackson Martínez, as well as Benfica's on-loan left-back Guilherme Siqueira. Centre-back Mangala is the most desirable of the trio, as United prepare for life without Nemanja Vidić and Rio Ferdinand.
The Count, Julian Draxler, is back in the gossip column, however it's not encouraging news for Arsenal fans. The German's agent has played down the prospect of a move to the Emirates Stadium, report the Express.
Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny is catching the eye of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Monaco after a decent half-season, the Telegraph say. The Frenchman signed a long-term contract in 2012, which is probably until 2016 at the earliest.
Koscielny has improved at Arsenal alongside Per Mertesacker
West Ham want to bring in Joleon Lescott on a free transfer in the summer, the Mirror claim. The Manchester City centre-back is out of contract in July and, since he can't even dislodge Martín Demichelis, has probably started packing his bags already.
AS say Juventus have approached Barcelona about Alexis Sánchez, which could be tricky due to the Spanish club's transfer ban.
And Croatia Under-21 international Mario Pašalić's agent says the Hajduk Split midfielder will undergo a medical with Chelsea in May, the Mirror add.
