Nasa's Curiosity rover has captured a beautiful sunset from the surface of Mars.
Taken on 22 June 2013 - or Sol 312 by Martian reckoning - the picture shows the sun setting at the rim of the Gale Crater, where the rover is currently located.
Marking almost a year since the $2.5billion rover landed on the red planet's surface, the colorised picture is a stunning reminder of the alien world's similarities to Earth.
The rover also recently produced a startling video of Mars' moon Phobos ascending into the sky.
The clip was made from a series of 86 photographs taken by Curiosity's navigation camera.
