UPDATE: As we expected, the clip was a teaser for an advert. An advert for Honda, no less, and one that riffs off Ferris Bueller pretty thoroughly. Dozens of hat-tips can be seen in the video we've got for you below - take a look and let us know what you spot...
A mysterious video of Matthew Broderick playing an older, greyer, more professional Ferris Bueller has emerged online, and it has sparked some amazing bits of guesswork from Twitter.
Can we expect Ferris Bueller 2? Is this the teaser to a teaser trailer to a real, full-length trailer of Ferris Bueller 2? Do we want Ferris Bueller 2? Do we deserve Ferris Bueller 2? Why is Broderick going back to his most iconic role, now, decades later?
The answer appears to be... the Super Bowl. With all the insane excitement about a possible sequel, few people are actually reading the explanatory parapgraph beneath the surprising video:
"We hate to be such a tease, but on a day like today, we just have to. Stick it out until the Super Bowl, or take a "day off" on Monday and catch the big reveal."
In other words... it's probably an advert. Because this is the Super Bowl, and if it isn't something to do with a half-time performance of Twist And Shout, then it's probably an advert for a soft drink or a car or a brand of crisps or the like.
