An astounding Reddit thread is revealing the most incredible recoveries medical professional have ever witnessed.
From traffic accident victims high on drugs to a motorcyclist with a substantial part of his chest missing, it's not easy reading.
It does however, demonstrate two things. Firstly, the human body is a wondrous thing and secondly, those human bodies that train in the health service are doubly amazing.
