It’s no surprise that everything Meghan Markle wears is often a sell-out, from fashion to jewellery and everything in between.
While we know the Duchess loves the likes of M&S and Missoma, she’s also a fan of false lashes – more specifically, Velour Whispie Me Away Lashes. They’re the ones she chose to wear on her wedding day, founder Mabel Lee told Who What Wear.
At £23, they’re at the pricer end of the spectrum, but promise to give a “feather-light feel”. The lashes are designed to have thick clusters along the lash line and a subtle gradient towards the outer corners of the eye. And they’re also reusable – you can reapply them up to 25 times.
The lashes are “handmade from pure mink hair for a natural-looking finish”, the website states, adding that the mink is “sourced from free-range zoos and completely sterilised for safe and hygienic use”.
Mink is often used for false lashes – obtained from the fur of mink animals – as its lightweight and fluffy, mimicking the look of your own eyelashes. However, there have been previous concerns by charity Peta that mink lashes “can never be cruelty-free”.
Faux mink is the man-made alternative to real mink, with a similar lightweight feel. If you’re looking for lashes for your big day, or the upcoming party season, here are some other styles worth trying – all these options are faux mink.
This pair adds lift and volume, but are lightweight so they’re not heavy on the lids. They’re fuss-free to apply, too – a pair of tweezers will help you guide each strip, once lined with glue, onto your lash line with ease. Finish with a coat of mascara to blend them with your natural lashes and you’re all set.
If you want more of a daytime look, go for this Ardell pair – the lashes are narrower than a typical strip lash and the short length means they’ll blend well with your natural lashes, too.
If you’re naturally blessed with a voluminous set of lashes, but want to go even bigger, head to Huda Beauty. Sweetly named after Huda’s daughter, Nour Giselle (who has naturally fluttery lashes), this pair aims to give a full, dark effect. If you’re careful, you can get up to 12 uses out of them.
