Melanie Griffith Covers Antonio Banderas Tattoo Following Marriage Split Announcement

Melanie Covers Up 'Antonio' Tattoo

Melanie Griffith appears to have learned an important lesson about not having someone’s name permanently inked on you, as she was photographed on Monday night with her tattoo bearing the name of her husband, Antonio Banderas, covered up.

The actress has ‘Antonio’ tattooed in a heart on her right arm in honour of her husband of 18 years, however, following the announcement of their split, she appeared to have covered up the tattoo with what we can assume is heavy makeup.

Melanie was also seen without her wedding ring as she posed for photographers at a Film Festivals awards ceremony in Italy.

The couple released a joint statement last month where they revealed they were splitting up, saying: “We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honouring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together.”

Melanie clearly wasn’t going to let the end of her marriage stand in her way of enjoying herself, as she was seen laughing at the awards with her friend and fellow actress Eva Longoria, wearing a sleeveless leopard print gown.

She isn’t the only star to have suffered a tattoo faux pas. Following her split from Peter Andre in 2009, Katie Price was photographed with a cross through the “Pete” tattoo on her wrist, while Cheryl Cole made the decision to have “Mrs. C” tattooed on the back of her neck following her marriage to footballer Ashley Cole, whom she divorced in 2010.
